Gas Station Opioids: The Kratom Problem

Upcoming Dates

It looks like an energy shot. It sits right by the register. It’s marketed as “natural.”

Kratom is sold as plant-based leaf powder and as concentrated extracts in shots, gummies, and tablets. The products look harmless, and most people have no idea what’s in them, how strong they are, or that they can lead to dependency, withdrawal, and overdose.

In Florida alone, medical examiners have linked at least 587 overdose deaths to concentrated kratom products. Many people don’t even realize how easy they are to buy.

Join the Suncoast Chapter of ASSP and the Southwest Florida Chapter of RIMS and the American Subcontractors Association for an awareness session on what kratom is, why it matters in the workplace, and what safety, risk, and business leaders should be watching for.

Who should attend: Safety professionals, risk managers, HR leaders, contractors, and supervisors.
